Vickie Hingston-Jones
Natural death education, guidance, support and family led funerals in the Canberra region
Sigmund Freud told us "The goal of all life is death" and yet of all the goals we set ourselves, this one that we cannot
negotiate is often the one we do little or no planning for. But where do we start? We start by talking.
By talking we normalise an event that we will all have to face one day.
My name is Vickie Hingston-Jones, after 15 years of attending births I learnt that respect, privacy and open-minded support is vital when allowing the journey of life to unfold naturally and gently.
This is done with -
Information - providing options, assistance with planning, choosing care providers
Physical support - sitting, holding, walking, being present, keeping vigil
Emotional support - listening to hopes and fears, holding your space
The same three components contribute to a good death, one that is faced without fear or trauma.
Whether days or decades ahead, I give people space and resources to prepare for death
so the rest of their lives are not spent in fear of it.
When the time comes, with no agenda, I'm a companion on final journeys.
I'm a bridge between families and caregivers.
I'm a keeper of a calm peaceful space.
I am an end of life doula, a death walker, a soul midwife, you can create your own name for me.
I aim to make the end of life as gentle as the beginning.
